Session 3

Layers of athmosphere.
Previously to the class, students will have to have watched one video about the atmosphere layers (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dEpP04EOcL4). The session will start with the teacher clarifying any doubt that students may have with the concepts of the video, this will depend on how many questions there are, but it should take about 10 minutes.
Once the students have all the concepts clear, an individual activity will be done, using the following link: https://www.eslgamesplus.com/layers-of-the-atmosphere-science-game/, similar to a kahoot. As students are answering the questions using their devices, the teacher will stop and ask, in each question, how many students have answered correctly. If most of them have answered correctly, one volunteer will explain why that is the answer, if most students have failed, the teacher will explain what is the correct answer and why. This will be done as a way of seeing if students have understood the video, and will take about 15 minutes to do.
Then, the rest of the session, excluding the 5 last minutes devoted to looking for the information of that day of their place in the world, will be used for a group activity related to the topic. They will have to make a visual representation of the atmospheric layers with a brief explanation of every layer, following the model of Photo 1.
- For this activity, we will ask the students to bring a mobile phone to class, and those who do not have this device will be provided with a computer from the center.
The main objective that we will achieve with this session is 1.1 To distinguish and locate the different parts and layers of the atmosphere.
