Topic core: Life on Earth. Atmospheric phenomena and their impact on biological cycles and daily life. Observation and record of atmospheric data.

JUSTIFICATION. 

The following didactic unit is based on the Organic Law 3/2020 of december the 29th, being focussed to children of approximately seven years of the second year of the first cycle of Primary Education. Regarding the area of knowledge to which it attends, we could identify it, in relation with the previous law, with the one named "knowledge of the natural, social and cultural environment". It has also taken into account the Royal Decree 157/ 2022, of march the 1st, which establishes the organization and minimum teaching of primary education.

The objective of the approach of this didactic unit on the education of children during the Primary Education years is that they get to be active, responsible, conscious and respectful adults with the world they live in, and that they can transform it in an ethical and sustainable way by the use of democratic values.

This didactic unit looks forward to promoting new ways of feeling, thinking and acting on the children that receive it. It also has as an objective that the student acquires knowledge about him/herself and the natural and social environment that is around him/her, the development of a critical and responsible thinking regarding to the use of natural resources and the awareness-raising about the need of preserve these resources and the environment, as well as teach basic knowledge about atmospheric phenomena, their measuring and record of the measuring, the layers of the Earth and the biological cycle of life. The importance of this didactic unit resides in that it's essential for the creation of sustainable habits for students from an early age regarding their surroundings and the things we take from nature. In addition, the transmission of the current climatic change situation and other meteorological and atmospheric phenomena that is around us.
